Autumn 2022

Wiltshire & Swindon CEP news

With the end of term not far off, we wanted to highlight the wonderful arts & cultural providers in Wiltshire & Swindon to inspire planning for next year, via our Cultural Providers Directory - a growing listing of organisations and practitioners who can support and deliver creative activities in your setting.

More broadly, see below for some CPD and creative learning resources, including from Arts Award and Artsmark, and as ever, do let us know what support would be most useful to you from your CEP.

Wishing you a creative rest of term!

Music-based CPD for Primary school staff

Wiltshire Music Connect has a jam-packed programme of CPD for colleagues in primary settings over the coming months, both for specialists and non-specialists. Sessions cover starting out as a Music Subject Leader, running music clubs, spoon playing and more! Plus, many of the sessions are completely free of charge for Wiltshire school teachers. Click here to see details, along with other events coming up in the What's on calendar.

See Me Too: Celebrating Swindon migration stories

In 2018, the original See Me Too project celebrated the history of migration to Swindon spanning over 200 years with a series of filmed interviews and documentaries starring Swindon people sharing their own personal journeys; from Railway workers to new arrivals and all in between.

The latest update to this inspiring project is a partnership between Create Studios and the Archives team at Nationwide Building Society, as their Archivist, Sara Kinsey, so loved the original project that she wanted to capture the stories of their own employees to bring a slice of humanity to their archives. Nationwide, as Swindon’s largest employer, has played a pivotal role in attracting new expertise and new families to the town.

This new website of interviews, films, and learning resources has been created to celebrate and share stories of home and hope, and are free to view and download.

Arts Award Voice - a platform for young arts leaders

Arts Award Voice is for young people taking part in Arts Award to get ideas from artists and other participants, to share their work, and be inspired. Its part of Voice magazine - a buzzing platform for young people's views and connections on arts, culture, tech and politics.

The Voice website has recently been refreshed and streamlined, so it’s easier for young people (and advisers) to find what they need, and to explore a wealth of examples to illustrate different parts of Arts Award. Once registered for a profile on the site (age 13+), young people can then access the guidance in the Bronze, Silver and Gold hubs, download prompt sheets, and get support.

Check out the main Arts Award website if you'd like to find out more about Arts Award itself, and find out about training to become an adviser.

Artsmark - embedding arts, culture & creativity

Whether your school is on their Artsmark journey yet or not, there are some wonderful resources available on the Artsmark website to help you explore and increase creative activity in your setting. Have a look here.

Have a look at their blog for inspiring stories and ideas, and click the button below to access some fun creative activity resources available to download by Little Inventors and Grimm and Co, which were part of the 'Day to Create' event back in the summer that celebrated 20 years of the award!
