Wiltshire & Swindon CEP news

Hello, we hope you are doing ok and are enjoying the recent good weather. Seeing the green on the trees and that spring has now truly sprung does help in these lockdown and challenging times. Same can be said for all of the creative offerings and ideas being shared across the world - we've captured a few of our favourites below!

Closer to home, in this enews we also bring you an overview of the W&SCEP Open Fund awarded projects from the two rounds in 2019 and 2020, and some fantastic local creative activity to get involved in, including online STEAM workshops through Wiltshire Music Connect, and a STEAM challenge from Wiltshire Creative. Also, teachers are being asked for their feedback to help develop the education offer at The Salisbury Museum.

And finally, we've collated some links to support for arts & cultural organisations and practitioners that may be facing uncertain futures and struggling at this time.

Wishing you all well, the W&SCEP team

CreateToConnect is a campaign hosted by 64 Million Artists during May, offering a month of daily creative challenges in collaboration with 31 different partners. Alongside the daily challenges, they will be distributing free tailored activity packs that enable you to engage others in your communities.

Homeschooling craft resources from the Crafts Council, with loads of ideas in offer for Early Years to KS5, and for teachers directly, all requiring minimal materials and all possible from the kitchen table!

Isolation Creations by Create Studios is a bulletin round up of the best of online media/digital creative activities for young people and the occasional special competition or callout. Perfect for teachers and homeschoolers, the latest issue linked to free films from the BFI, and free photo courses from Nikon. To sign up to the bulletin send an email.

Salisbury 2020 STEAM challenge is a response to a feat 800 years ago when Salisbury Cathedral and its community moved from Old Sarum, an endeavour that required the greatest physical, technological and intellectual skills. This is an open call to explore the world of automata and movement and seeks to encourage young people to be inspired by a theme of movement and to produce something exciting whilst using art, science, design and technology.

Teachers - please give your feedback to The Salisbury Museum

The Salisbury Museum has recently engaged heritage specialists Tricolor Associates to carry out an audience consultation, as part of building the case for National Lottery Heritage Fund (NLHF) project funding. The consultants need the views of local teachers about how The Salisbury Museum could develop its educational offer, to ensure that it reflects the needs of yourself and your students.

Please help us to plan for a bright future by completing our short teacher survey.
