Creative Careers
Links to support progression and aspiration
The creative and cultural industries are a broad and fast growing area in the UK (doubling in size in the last 10yrs!), and provides exciting opportunities for young people to develop and apply their skills, imagination, and creativity. Even if it’s not a career directly in the arts, skills such as creative thinking, innovation, and collaboration are all essential for the 21st century workplace, especially as it’s thought that most young people studying today will take up employment in job roles that don’t even exist yet!
Although not an exhaustive list, the creative industries include design, music, publishing, architecture, film and video, crafts, visual arts, fashion, TV and radio, advertising, literature, computer games and the performing arts. Within this there are then endless roles, which include creators, educators, facilitators, managers, and many many more! Providing young people from primary age upwards with exposure to the various roles that currently exist can only inspire them and open up opportunities.
There are endless ways into the creative industries and everyone’s journey is unique. This page is a growing resource of links to opportunities in Wiltshire & Swindon, and beyond, to support educators, parents, and young people to find their creative path.
