Spring 2022

Wiltshire & Swindon CEP news

Welcome to this first bulletin of 2022, which focuses on a couple of new resources provided by the W&SCEP to support creative connections and progression routes for settings and young people.

Firstly we have details of a new Creative Careers resource, sharing links to advice and opportunities for careers educators, teachers, and parents. And secondly, the Cultural Providers Directory is a growing list of fantastic organisations and practitioners who could help deliver arts & cultural activities in your setting.

Wishing you a creative term ahead!

Creative Careers events & resources

To help school and college careers advisers, teachers, and parents to support and inspire young people about the opportunities and roles that exist within the creative and cultural industries, a new dedicated resource page about Creative Careers has been added to the W&SCEP website.

The page gives links to careers advice, insight and opportunities, along with the education and support offers from local organisations. Do let us know what else would be useful to you in this resource for supporting young people's creative progression and pathways!

In addition, there are a number of events coming up in 2022 from the W&SCEP and partners relating to creative careers, including:

  • Careers in the Performing Arts - 15th February, a half-day event for KS3&4 pupils at Salisbury Playhouse, by Wiltshire Creative

  • Routes into Music - starting on 19th February, a series of free workshops for 16-18yr olds over 6 weeks at Trowbridge Town Hall with support from Wiltshire Music Connect and Arts Council England

  • Networking for Schools & Cultural Providers - 24th March, a twilight event at Salisbury Arts Centre, by Wiltshire Creative (more details below)

  • The Careers Behind The Music - 7-9th March, workshops for 11-18yr olds at Trowbridge Town Hall and Pound Arts, by Music Workshop with support from Wiltshire Music Connect

Cultural Providers Directory

In response to feedback from schools, the W&SCEP has created a cultural providers directory on their website to help connect settings with arts, cultural and heritage organisations and practitioners working across the county. We're really excited to support these connections, hopefully leading to some great cultural education activity!

It is a growing resource, so please do check back again over the next few months, and pass it onto to any providers you know of who may want to add their details.

Disclaimer: It's important to note that providers add themselves to the directory and so are not vetted or checked by the W&SCEP and so we can take no responsibility for their quality or safeguarding policies. These checks need to be done by settings / anyone using the directory. Any concerns please email us.

**Save the date!** Schools and Culture Networking

Thurs 24th March 2022, 5-7pm, Salisbury Arts Centre

Wiltshire Creative, and the W&SCEP, are delighted to launch a series of in-person, informal networking events, aiming to create an opportunity for school and college staff to meet with local cultural providers to find out more about what is on offer in the area.

Open to school staff, artists, and arts, cultural, and heritage organisations, wanting the chance to meet each other and chat about exciting new or developing ideas, projects, and initiatives.

Drop in between 5-7pm to meet your local cultural network, and be inspired over some refreshments!

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.

Visit The Arts In Wiltshire and its arts and education posts to keep up to date with developments and opportunities.
